But the slow burn and building UST really worked for me. Jake was so clueless about the feelings building between him and Parker that you had to shake your head and wonder. He never became jaded despite the band’s fast rising success and their status as rock stars. He was out and proud and never tried to hide who he was. But the parts that were communicated through blog posts, texts, emails, magazine articles, and interviews made it feel like you were actually there as events unfolded between the characters.Jake quickly became one of my favorite MCs of all times. The story’s narrative portions were told in Jake’s voice, and his wicked sense of humor was evident throughout. Thank goodness.I loved the different ways the story was moved along. And it wasn’t your typical bad boy rocker falls in love smut fest either. Review 2: From the title of this book, I thought it was going to be a heavy read. Of course their rise to fame seemed fantastical, but what do I know about the music industry? I loved the friendship, love and music of this book. I felt like Jake, completely flummoxed to know that song was about him. And Parker was so sweet and subtle with his feelings. I just felt connected to the characters, much like a fan. I kept hearing Kings of Leon in my head as I read. I learned something in music-even bought some songs. I don't normally like stories with blog entries, but this was brilliantly done. I was caught up in the story immediately.
